T&R Communications
New Office Move

Our business has been growing which recently created the need for new office space doubling the size of the old space in Sacramento. There was a lot of work to be done moving from one office to another in a very short time frame, but our dedicated team persevered with success!

Starting with the basics, T&R’s project manager, John Acosta began with a Gantt chart to establish a schedule and organized process to consolidate existing with new circuits for the new office space. The circuits were ordered early to ensure a timely delivery and ready to go installation. To ensure a smooth transition from old to new spaces, T&R Communications partnered with Consolidated Communications and Wiline Communications who provided excellent support throughout.

T&R Communications worked with a general contractor that assisted full-time with a few tenant improvements and construction of the administration and storeroom areas. The contractor also created a large opening between two large warehouses that would provide the much-needed additional square footage.

Richard Spano’s involvement as T&R’s electronic security solutions subject matter expert, effectively and efficiently managed the daily changes/expectations/wish list items during this large undertaking of office move. In true professional fashion, Richard handled the small to large project requests that were presented at him to create a secure and safe environment for all employees and guest.

T&R’s dedicated technicians Luis Melgoza and Maurice Christian began the process of installing new infrastructure cabling for the security, access control, CCTV, WAPS, Audio Visual and extra conference room system needs. Luis and Maurice were challenged the most with multiple last-minute design changes and the new Video Conferencing hardware, cameras and card readers we that needed to be installed. After spending a few days in the ceiling to sort out the existing cabling, the team was able to use existing network cabling to re-terminate into new network equipment. All cabling was relabeled and tested saving many hours of installation labor and extra costs!

The audio-visual scope of work was expertly designed and engineered by Dave Gomes. Dave understood and considered the new T&R Communications conference room space potential while designing the most appropriate AV solutions that will be enjoyed well into the future.

Charles Varvayanis, T&R’s IT consulting partner, played an important role during the office move as well. Charles brought his IT expertise to assist with keeping the network operable without any down time. Charles configured all new network equipment, router, firewall. This project was considered a new cutover with new circuits. To keep network operational and going strong throughout the move, Charles designed a point to point satellite system (200’) from new building to old building! This setup was a bonus especially in that the buildings were so close in distance!

The old to new office cutover was managed and executed in one day by John Acosta and Charles Varvaynanis. All systems were pretested so transitioning to new office space and equipment would be a plug and play experience. To avoid downtime, Charles configured all systems on a Thursday and John followed up with an early Friday morning to move over network server and WAPs. Everything was completed and ready to go live by midafternoon that same day!

Stefano Terluin managed all the logistics and moved warehouse equipment, racks and inventory. Stefano’s great organizational skills assisted in moving everything out on pallets. The warehouse to warehouse move was completed in a very short time frame without any interruption or downtime in productivity!

Pat McMurray, T&R’s leader, was really impressed with the team collaboration to create this huge success. “When the opportunity to relocate into a new (and much nicer suite) first presented itself, it seemed this a pretty simple move only 100 yards away! Boy, was I wrong, so many tasks to be completed in a short period of time. The team performed extremely well and handled the challenges thrown at them with accuracy and professionalism every step of the way.” Thanks for a job well done!

T&R Communications is all moved in and enjoying the new office and warehouse spaces. We are excited about this new chapter and looking forward to enjoying this well-deserved extra square footage!
